EESCC January 3, 2001 Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by Cheryl.  Cheryl spoke about maintaining order during our meetings, as it was easier to get through the business when she doesn't have to compete with all of the rest of us.  She gently encouraged us to have our conversations before or after, and then she put the hammer away.

Old Business:

¨       The New Years Eve party was a success!  Thanks to Don and Gail for the use of their home.  People still wanted to continue to banter and barter for the white elephant gifts!

¨       The newsletter party was great, but more help is always welcome.

New Business:

¨       Our mailing list will be reviewed as not every active participant is on the mailing list, and some folks are receiving double mailings.

¨       Tim, our webmaster, is perfecting our web site.  He was hopeful that by our next meeting on February 1, 2001 the web site would be functional.  Tim spoke about some of the features of the web site.

¨       Tim would like everyone's input on what they would like to see on the web site.  He needs continued articles and information.  He would like to have a featured article and space dedicated to upcoming events.

¨       Races and standings (results) will be posted and search criteria will be available

¨       We discussed reducing mailing costs since the newsletter will be posted on the site.  An option will be available to the site visitor to continue or decline receiving mailings.

¨       Links are being created for other non-EESCC events.

¨       Provide input to Tim at webmaster@EESCC.org.

¨       Don talked with Walt (Eugene Suzuki) regarding helmet discounts.  Walt is not able to match what Ron Brown (Portland, Competition Motor Sports) has offered.  It was requested that we continue to look for any deals.  Bill and Cheryl will be in Portland and will check into it while they are there.

¨       We are not required to have a full face helmet.  It just must meet the Snell 90 rating.  For those driving in hill climb events, a long sleeve cotton shirt is required as well.

¨       Cheryl distributed the 2001 schedule.  We have 8 race events plus icebreaker for the 2001 season.  Points will be calculated on the best 6 out of 8 championship points events

¨       We discussed the need to modify our rules as it relates to point calculation.  Lorin made a motion that the new rules state the number of events that an individual run in order to count towards championship points.  The verbiage would be changed to count the 6 best events.  Bill seconded the motion and a vote was taken.  The motion passed.

¨       Cheryl reviewed a couple of rules: 1) Race only on the course 2) If you don't work, you don't race.

¨       Cheryl reminded everyone to keep in mind that we all represent our club.

¨       Tim will propose a different point calculation system at the next meeting.

¨       We discussed rolling starts verses standing starts.  Our starts are considered rolling starts.  David expressed concern that our starts are to quick and too hard on the clutches of many daily driven cars.  Much discussion followed.

¨       We concluded the meeting by announcing that the annual dues are now due.  The prepayment program instituted for 2000 will also be in effect for 2001.

¨       The next flyer will be after our February 1 meeting.  This will include the icebreaker information.

¨       The meeting Adjourned at 8:17 PM.
